Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBThis was really fun to read Fun in that I treated it as a set of auditions and I got to lean back on my couch and raise eyebrows and say to myself ‘ENTERTAIN ME’And I was entertained And I found a number of new authors to explore and in that respect this collection was a success Let me tell you about some of my favourites Dennis Cooper The Marbled Swarm We have the intro chapter here I’d read the novel before and it’s pretty good Lyrical pyrotechnics but not sick enough unfortunately Shame I can’t find any of his other novels anywhere Brian Oliu Level End Surrealist videogame based prose I’m in Can we make this a thing please Laura Relyea All Glitter EverythingI was just asking myself always when is someone going to see Keha’s poetic potential Reminds me of the crazy stuff Shelley Jackson writes instruction manuals on how to take care of dog sized spermatozoa for example Karen Green Bough Down I’m sure

Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBThis was received from the publisher for an honest review It took me a really long time to read this because what is it An anthology Not a short story collection but a collection of authors and their stories When I received this for review I was pretty thrilled beca

Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBwhat makes writing 'innovative' I suppose the response to this uestion is dependent upon what you have read read if you're use to experimental fiction for lack of a better term or make it a habit of indulging work current recent MFAers then I suppose this anthology will leave you feeling ordinary if you're a consumer of mainstream fiction just uirky enough NPR recommended work then the work here might just be enough out of your comfort zone to provoke a blackwhite critiue insisting on these two categories is unfair and clichein this way NOW3 presses

Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBI guess the unstated goal of any well written review is to either convince or dissuade the reader from picking up and reading the book under review And while I’ll endeavor here to write something at least mildly engaging and standard review length I’ll just let you know off the bat that you probably don’t need to read this whole review I say this because for this book this anthology called NOW 3 you will undoubtedly fall into two pretty polarized camps based on one sentence Essentially it goes like this If the sentence ‘This book is full of lots of different really weird stuff’ gives you the sort of excited jumpy feeling around your sternum and makes you want to run out and pick it up then just go ahead and get the anthology nowDon’t waste any time just go out and pick it up and read it and revel in it If

Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBI first want to say that it's difficult for me to get into an anthology With a variety of voices and forms each piece is a new beginning a new world to adjust to This is not the fault of the editor; it's just the nature of the beast That said The Now Awards 3 anthology is a sexy fascinating beast What I most appreciate about Now is how it not only showcases the best experimental or innovative writing but through its selections it also defines what experimental writing isThe prose in this collection is outstanding including some of my favorite authors Matt Bell Amber Sparks Robert Kloss Blake Butler Dennis Cooper Janice Lee James Tadd Adcox and many others What feels new about this anthology is that there are so many excerpts from novels and what is chosen is a perfect bite For example the excerpt from Matt Bell's In the House Upon the Dirt Between the Lake and the Woods is an excell

Paperbackñ TheAWARDS 3 PDF ç theawards ebok, TheAWARDS 3 ePUBI received a free copy of this collection in exchange for an honest reviewLet me begin by saying that in this case I couldn't avoid judging the book by its cover Even now I keep staring at it entranced It's eye catching it's lovely provoking Just beautiful Now then on to the content The works collected here were gathered together as examples of innovation in writing and they certainly are that Some of them did much for me than others; some of them I must admit to finding unreadable But a lot of what's presented here struck me as surrealist in style whether that says something in general for today's innovative writing or was just happenstance I don't know And that's always been the way surreal writing hits me either it's the best or it's the worst I will say that
